These 14 plans are not available in all states, some use different names but the benefits are standardized so whichever company you will avail Medigap plans with, you will still get the same benefits. The only difference is the amount of premiums; company charge different premiums so always compare rates and get the lowest price. Here are the things that you should know regarding premiums.
Paying higher premiums for standardized Medigap plans will not give you any benefit because the benefits and filing of requirements are similar, so do not be persuaded with other insurance agents saying that their Medigap has more benefits so the premium is higher. Do not pay more for something that you can get for less. Expect that premiums will increase each year to keep up with inflation rate. The amount of premiums may vary depending on what age you purchase the health insurance plan but will not increase as you grow older, this is called issue age premium. Lastly, the community rated premium has the same premium regardless of age.
